What is SMS/ Text Messaging?
SMS (Short Messaging Service) allows you to send short text messages of up to 160 characters from your mobile phone to another BlueSky mobile or internationally. When you send a text message, the person receiving the message will receive it in their SMS inbox on their phone which can be checked at any time, free of charge.
Text messaging allows you to converse in privacy with a friend or colleague when you are in a public place or in a meeting. Use text messaging when you run out of calling minutes to leave messages for a friend whose mobile phone is switched off or whose voice mail box is not in service.
How do I sign up for text messaging?
SMS activation is free!
Visit our retail store at Laufou Shopping Center in Nu'uuli and sign up for SMS service or free call *611 from you BlueSky phone and ask one of our customer service representatives to sign you up.
How do you send text messages?
Using your Blue Sky wireless phone:
1. Select "Messages" from the main menu on your phone
2. Select either "Text message" or "SMS"
3. Select "Create Message"
4. Key in your short message by pressing the number key that contains the letters to spell your message (example: to send the word "hi" you simply use the 4 - pressing it twice to get the letter "h" to appear and then press 4 three times again to get the letter "i")
5. After typing your short message you select "Options"
6. Select "Send" and enter the phone number you wish to send the message to or choose it from your phone book
7. Select OK
How much does it cost to send and receive messages?
The cost to send messages locally is 5 cents from BlueSky to BlueSky. Incoming messages are free. Funds will be deducted automatically from your prepaid balance once a text message has been sent. Postpaid SMS rates differ according to the post plan you signed up for.
Can I text internationally?
You can text anywhere in the world with BlueSky's text messaging service. Remember to include Country Code + Area Code + Phone number when texting internationally (E.g. For Hawaii, USA you would enter 1-808-XXX-XXXX).
