BlueSky is very pleased to bring, for the People of American Samoa, an unprecedented wireless experience, with expanded flexibility and more value and choice, than ever before.

We are committed to continue delivering best value and service to our customers. To achieve this significant goal, we officially announce the commercial launch of 4G services in American Samoa. The implementation of fourth Generation mobile technologies or 4G HSPA+ in our network is aligned with BlueSky’s vision of a world in which, technology has a strong influence in, our people’s daily life, in the way they interact, and in generating positive changes that bring about benefits for all.

BlueSky came ashore more than 12 years ago,and today, it reinvents itself. Our employees have embraced the challenge, and delivered. Not only have they conquered, the 4G Network Upgrade challenge, they did it in record time – it took weeks to get the new network completed and days to install it. A complete network replacement, and upgrade to 4G requires a full IP backhaul – this was also accomplished. Today BlueSky employees, have brought to American Samoa the most advanced mobile broadband network, in the South Pacific – HSPA+ – delivering up to, 21Mbps of download, and 5.7 Mbps of upload speeds. It is only fitting to BlueSky’s long history of innovation in American Samoa, that we are the first, to bring 4G technologies, to our islands. Our vision is clear; we must play, a lead role, in the broadband revolution. It is our responsibility, and our commitment, to our customers. There were no grants or other funding sources supporting the implementation of this project. This is strictly the result of our vision and our company’s commitment to American Samoa and its future. We are making broadband for everyone, our priority.

A remarkable evolution, brought us the fourth generation wireless broadband. 4G is about performance. It is designed to deliver speed, and is fundamentally, about consumer, experience. 4G wireless is, on average, anywhere from four to ten times faster than, a working, 3G network.

In particular, 4G HSPA+, offers innovation translated into advanced network speeds and impeccable quality, which combined with access to the latest, and most impressive, mobile devices, bring about an unparalleled experience. Our customers, will be able to enjoy devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy S2, Android flagship, ranked by many as the #1 mobile phone in the world today. Apple Iphone 4 and 4S, as well as Apple Ipad 2 are also available – devices which need no introduction. We are also launching USB dongles, allowing Laptops and PC’s to surf the net having access to the HSPA+ capabilities anywhere in the BlueSky 4G network. BlueSky 4G is for all, both postpaid and prepaid customers will enjoy broadband. The new offerings are available starting today, with many more exciting offers being introduced in the coming days.

Downloading apps, facebook updates, Streaming video, creating and sharing mobile content, improved videoconferencing and gaming experiences, and of course having our emails, at the tip of our fingers are enabled through the highest mobile data speeds available worldwide – right here in our territory, with our new HSPA+ network providing mobile broadband speeds of up to 21 Mbps for download. Existing GSM services have been improved for quality and coverage therefore, 2, 2.5G, 3G and 4G data and voice phones will work better across the territory from Onenoa to Amanave and most all villages in between.

We are excited about bringing next-generation speeds and performance to thousands of customers in American Samoa. Our vision became a reality, with the positive participation of our people and the support of our very valuable and committed commercial partners: Huawei Technologies and ANZ bank. Particularly in the last few days as we rolled out the network and the next weeks as we fine-tune and smooth out the wrinkles. Q. What is a 4G network?

HSPA+ means High Speed Packet Access Plus (HSPA+). The expanded network will provide an unprecedented wireless experience with expanded flexibility and more value and choice than ever before. HSPA + 4G technology is an evolution of 3.5G technologies, which is going to allow BlueSky’s users to experience faster speeds for navigation, speed up file downloads and live a superior experience multimedia content on the Internet. We are excited about bringing next-generation speeds and performance to thousands of customers in American Samoa, through the most widely deployed mobile broadband data technology in the world today.

Q. Do you define HSPA + technology as a fourth generation solution (4G)?

According to the ITU (International Telecommunication Union), any technology that provides a substantial improvement in performance and capacity compared to 3G, is called 4G. This is our case.

Q. What are the download and upload speeds of this technology?

Streaming video, creating and sharing mobile content, improved videoconferencing and gaming experiences are enabled through the highest mobile data speeds available in the market. HSPA + technology allow theoretical data connection of up to 21 Mbps downstream and up to 5.6 Mbps for uploads.

Q. What speeds and plans will be offering HSPA + 4G BlueSky’s network?

Data speed is dependent, among others factors, on different variables such as the user’s mobility device, and the surface geography. However, this new technology delivers faster than ever download speeds and a substantially improved experience. No wireless mobile operator currently has the potential to provide an average speed, but what we have seen so far is that the user experience in performance and capacity doubles. BlueSky’s commercial offer in mobile Internet plans will be available shortly.

Q. How are the speeds of BlueSky’s 4G network compared to residential performance?

HSPA + 4G BlueSky’s network allows the user to access to a connection with speeds which not affect the experience they are used to. It certainly is a very valid alternative to conventional residential connection as it allows the freedom of mobility that only a wireless service can provide, anywhere that coverage is available.

Q. What is the geographical coverage that BlueSky’s network will offer?

With our new HSPA+ network providing mobile broadband speeds of up to 21 Mbps for download and 5.7 Mbps for upload, our Customers will enjoy increased data speeds in many more places than with the plans that the other options available in the market offer.
